MOBILE & INTERNET
COVERAGE
Telstra
Telstra is the most reliable service provider for K’gari (formerly Fraser Island). There are Telstra towers located at Eurong, Happy Valley, Kingfisher Bay and Orchid Beach. Moon Point and Platypus Bay typically have coverage from mainland Hervey Bay. The inland tracks have very limited reception. Occasionally, you may receive reception at the high points of the island. For example, you can get reception on top of the hill before you reach the Boorangoora-Lake McKenzie car park. Please Note, as the phone reception towers are powered by solar panels, coverage can be interrupted during long periods of overcast/rainy weather.
Telstra Coverage & Rollout Maps
Optus & Vodafone
Optus and Vodaphone coverage is very limited. Reception can usually be found on Seventy-Mile Beach south of Eurong. Kingfisher Bay also receives some signal. Please note, reception is weather dependent. At K’gari Beach Houses, Optus and Vodaphone reception can sometimes be found on the front lawn. The best signal is often at the picnic table overlooking the ocean.
